SucraShield™ is a sugar-based insecticide/miticide that gives
fast-acting control for hundreds of soft-bodied insects like aphids,
caterpillars, glassy-winged sharp-shooters, mealy bugs, mites, soft
scale, thrips and whitefly. The active ingredient, a sugar ester,
attacks the target pests and causes rapid dehydration. SucraShield™
biodegrades into sugar and water in the environment. There is no
documented resistance. NOW OMRI LISTED! View certificate
SucraShield™
has no application interval for harvesting; you can apply it and eat
your fruits or vegetables the same day. It can be used on both
ornamental and edible crops; you will notice only a faint, sweet scent
upon application. SucraShield™ can be used in greenhouses, nurseries, on
trees, and in the garden. SucraShield™ is allowed for use in organic
agriculture under the USDA National Organic Program and is registered
with the WSDA for Organic Farming and Gardening.
SucraShield™’s
novel formula has been proven not to harm beneficial insects such as
honey bees, beetles, ladybugs, lacewing, and wasps at labeled use rates.
SucraShield™ has not been tested on every beneficial insect.
SucraShield™'s activity selectively controls soft bodied insects and not
hard bodied insects. Therefore, care should be taken if the beneficial
insects are not listed above or are in a state of 'soft bodies'.
SucraShield
™ does cause some mortality to predatory mites. However, pest mites are
impacted more significantly than predacious ones. If predatory mites
are present at the time of application, the lower impact on the
predatory mite population will allow survivors to quickly manage any
re-infestation of pest mites. If predatory mites have NOT been applied,
you should wait 3-7 days after application of SucraShield before
releasing them. It depends upon the residue of the SucraShield left on
the leaf surface; definitely after 7 days there is not enough residue to
impact predatory mites.
Because SucraShield™ is a sugar ester,
it is perfect for use if you have desert alkaline soils/water. As the
formula is slightly acidic, generally those with alkaline soils/water do
not have to add anything to optimize the pH. If after mixing your final
pH measures below 7, you will have to add something to make the mixture
more alkaline (basic).
SucraShield™ has a shelf life of 2 years
if stored according to directions. For best results keep below 140
degrees F and above 32 degrees F. One pint makes 12 ½ - 16 gallons of
spray; one gallon makes 81-100 gallons of spray. Typically, one gallon
of spray will cover approximately 150 plants 1 foot high, depending on
the amount of foliage present, or 1500 sq. ft.

SucraShield™ is primarily a contact insecticide with limited residual activity.
- Do not apply this product through any type of irrigation system.
- Can be tank mixed with other insecticides and fungicides to boost efficiency.
- Apply as soon as infestation begins.
- Use in sufficient water to achieve adequate coverage.
- Shake
or stir before use. SucraShield™ suspends in water. To achieve and to
maintain the suspension, add the appropriate quantity to water with
agitation and maintain gentle agitation during application.
- Repeat applications, as necessary, at intervals of 7 - 10 days, to maintain control.
- Thorough coverage of plant foliage, including the undersides of leaves, is essential for good control of the target pests.
